I first came up with the idea of creating these birds baths a few years ago after learning how to create sand-casted forms. I really enjoy this aspect of my work because it allows me to not only work three-dimensionally but also to create a completely organic form with my hands. It takes a month for these sand-casted forms to fully cure. Once they are cured I then mosaic the tops of the bird baths. Most of the bird baths are done in mosaic using old car windows. The color of the glass is the natural color of the windows that comes through once it is smashed into tiny pieces. Each bird bath, like all of my work is one-of-a-kind and can be made into any shape or size.
